Cook and eat at Sunny’s Kitchen

In February 2018, we launched a Sunny Soups spin-off, in partnership with Dunbar Basics Bank. The Ridge are delighted to have been granted the generous permission of Dunbar Parish Church to use the Church hall kitchen, a fantastic space with a huge range cooker and lots of room for more volunteers and students to come along. We began using the kitchen for Sunny Soups and our adult Plenty Project classes, and between the two organisations cooked up a brand new community meal called Sunny’s Kitchen.

This is designed to complement our popular, long-running Hungry Hatch dinners, and offers a different format: a monthly lunch where up to 20 of us come together to cook and eat a healthy meal, made of ingredients primarily rescued from being wasted.

The meal is open to anyone, whether or not you have any cooking experience at all – we’ll be on hand to offer tips, guidance and teach new skills as necessary. Just sign up at info@the-ridge.org.uk, by adding your name to the list at The Ridge Cafe at the Bleachingfield Centre, or by messaging The Ridge or Dunbar Basics Bank on Facebook.

We’re really pleased to say a huge thank you to The Co-operative for sponsoring the additional ingredients needed to make our meals (and the essential tea and coffee!).
